I am an almost PhD (I will defend June 2007). I have been a bartender for thirty years and decided to go back to school to get a bachelor's degree in 1994 and have not stopped . I have a five and a half year-old daughter, Lily, and, as Lily like to keep track, 12 pets of various species. I also have a kind haearted, patient, and supportive partner, Susan, who put her career on hold to stay at home and raise Lily. Now it is her turn.

Thanks for providing us with such a great class and atmosphere. I just think the material is rushing by too fast for me to absorb it all. But I do my best.
I have found a topic I really want to gnaw into--the BS of linguistic imperialism! I got Phillipson's book, and am working on some articles which are interesting counters. Will appreciate the oppty to discuss with you when your time permits!
An article in the NYT today was a good example of how to achieve the emotional control in order to extent the time from A--activation to B--belief or interpretation of the event. I am sending you a link in case you think it is worth putting up on the class blog. Posting it to mine will not get much exposure.
